I have to say that I really do not care about him. I have heard he did not file a flight path which is illegal in the US. I do not care about him, sorry.

Regardless of him not posting a flight plan.....

He had a family and friends.

He also held several world records including longest non stop flight around world.

He was a great adventurer and clearly a free spirit.

If hes dead at least he died doing something he loved.

Things don't look hopeful. I sincerely hope they find him
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Re: Fears growing for missing Fossett

Steve Fossett has held 116 world records over the course of his life.

He's a bit of an idiot for not filing a flight plan, but then, I suppose he didn't intend to crash.

I do hope they find him alive, for the sake of his family.

This story overshadowed a couple of stories that I thought were more interesting, Jane Tomlinson was told in 2000 that she had 6 months to live, and she survived for 7 years and raised 1.75million pounds for cancer charities. Mmmm milti millionaire Steve Fossett goes missing in a plane and because he has set so many records his story is more important. Mmmmmmm, sorry the 11 year old Liverpudlian lad,Rhys Jones, who was stabbed to death was buried today, Mmmmmm. Not important enough in the news digest. Maybe some of us KNOW what news is important and what is not. As I said yesterday when Jane Tomlinson's death did not merit a mention, SHAME ON YOU

Who said that. On radio 1 news, when Jane Tomlinson died, her story was lead news, Rhys' funeral today was lead news. Steve Fossett got a mention about 5 minutes into a 15 minute bulletin.

Re: Fears growing for missing Fossett

                Excuse me, shame on who?

Jane Tomlinson was an amazing woman who deserves a sainthood for her efforts.

Rhys Jones death has shocked and saddened the nation.

I make no comparison, I merely believe all life is precious and I felt the need to defend Steve Fossett from 'I dont care about this man'.

Re: Fears growing for missing Fossett

Well, if it was the lead story WHY IS THIS SITE having the lead story as STEVE FOSSETT? Celestine as responsible site owner that I know you are, please can you discipline Legal Beagle who seems to believe that a minor news story SHOULD be the most worthy of being reported on the site 2 days running?
Is Steve Fossett secretly a member of the forum that you are not allowed to mention? Or does the glitz and glamour of fame and fortune and world records mean more to the esteemed Legal Beagle than more important ones?
By the way British troops were killed in Afghanistan in case you read other sources of news. RIP for brave soldiers killed doing their job. Or maybe, tomorrow's top story will be Jeremy Clarkson being acquitted of a motoring offence?
