    Unsurprising but terrible all the same.

    The spokesman for Lloyds says they ''don't condone'' these tactics but by implication the bonus structure that Lloyds operate for debt collection clearly encourages it..

    This is industry wide. I remember speaking to someone who used to work in NatWest collections and they had incentives so towards the end of the month they used to agree to payment plans that were either (a) unworkable or (b) would be unacceptable to the bank just so they could hit their targets.
    Tighter regulation is perhaps required.
