Point of interest in the upcoming CPR amendments. There will be changes being made to statements of truth so currently it reads as "I believe that the facts stated in this witness statement are true" and from 6 April 2020 it will now say:
I believe that the facts stated in this witness statement are true. I understand that proceedings for contempt of court may be brought against anyone who makes, or causes to be made, a false statement in a document verified by a statement of truth without an honest belief in its truth.
I assume the added wording is on the back of the recent Court of Appeal case in Liverpool Victoria v Zafar contempt of court case.
