    A Brighton student suffocated herself after £40,000 bank debts overwhelmed her.

    "Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

    That's is just plain wrong !!!

    Looks like this hadn't even been to court, but the threats where enough to push her over the edge.
    What a way to go

        If there's any consolation in this appalling situation it's that the buggers who caused it won't get anything. Being charged with manslaughter would be to good

          Tragic.

          Sometimes all it would take from the banks /cc companies is a call trying a different tactic.

          "We notice you are having problems repaying your card/loan - would you like to talk to someone about getting some help"

          A few kind words would perhaps mean that people would get help before things get this far.

          Lets face it the FI have access to all our records and all debts . They know exactly when things start to go wrong - and they should ensure people are not afraid of that initial chat that might prevent desperate acts like these..
