Hello, I, along with my mother and sibling are the executors of my fathers will.
The solicitors are saying all 3 executors need to go in person to receive the original will - is this correct?
The original solicitor retired and ended their practice. Another company several hundred miles away have taken over.
My fathers estate is very small and simple, I believe my mother and he were tenants in common. He has very little savings and has effectively left everything to her.
My mother has started the probate process herself and is slowly working through this. We have copies of Mum and Dads Will however we do not have the original which I understand is required for probate.
Do we all really need to travel a great distance to be in person to receive this? ( my sibling and I work full time so it will be difficult to co-ordinate)
Would there be extra cost involved in seeing someone to receive the Will ( we are not adverse to that, as I appreciate there may be cost involve in locating and drawing out the paperwork) We were just hoping they could securely send it to us, to save the bother of travelling ( we are looking at overnight stay and boarding for the dogs)
Also if a local firm were to be involve (ie solicitors can only send securely to other solicitors) then surely there would be a cost involved and what would we be looking at - having never done anything like this before I presume we would have to pay 1 hrs rate or something.
I think it would ease our minds to manage our expectations. Thanks in advance.
