  • Distributing Will letter to beneficiaries

    Hi,
I have completed grant of probate and now need to go about distributing the will.
I need to write to pecuniary legacies who will each receive the same specific amount so wondering what I need to include in the letter and best way to pay by bank transfer or cheque.

    1. Tell them what they are due to receive.
    2. Ask them to provide bank details or whether they would prefer a cheque.

And later when you actually send them the money ask them to confirm they have received it. That's what I've done when I've been an Executor.

It may be wise to send a small test payment of say £10 to confirm the bank details are accurate, paying the balance when receipt of the test payment is confirmed.
