Finding shares etc

As an executor for my BIL's will is there anywhere that I can find what shares and other assets he might have, his paperwork is a mess and I know that he did get income from many sources.

In general.there is no single place you can go to.for this information. As executor you basically have to slog through the paperwork, put it in order, and then every share or other asset you find you have to contact the organisation concerned, send them a copy of the death certificate, and ask them if they hold any assets or information.

List out the payments received in his bank accounts and identify where they come from and contact those companies.
