A caveat was put on my Late parents Will. I have been trying to negotiate with the other party to obviate the need for Court action and potential high Solicitors costs, but I have been unsuccessful . I have today arranged to have a meeting with a Solicitor to Warn off the Caveat. In the meantime, the caveat was due to have expired on 28th February, I assume the other party will have extended the caveat but I haven`t heard anything from the Probate Office, would they inform me if the caveat has been extended, or do I just find that out for myself, can anyone tell me please?
Will the Probate Office inform me if a caveat has been renewed?

Have you tried phoning the Probate Registry helpline?
A named executor in a will is not informed by the registry when a caveat is put in place
After 6 months, if it is not renewed by the caveator, it is automatically removed. I assume the registry does not let the named executor know the caveat has not been renewed. The process of probate re=starts

I can confirm that the probate office will NOT advise you if the caveat has been challenged.
If the caveat has been/is challenged then “they” should inform you in writing. Be very careful here as my caveat was overturned as my sisters solicitors claimed that they had posted a letter (not registered mail) which I didn’t receive and probate was rushed through.
Have found the probate office very helpful in responding to enquiries and email was by far the best and easiest method.
good luck
