Hi folks I'm in the process of inheriting my mother's home that I've lived in since birth after looking after her for many years.I'm the sole beneficiary of her will.Probate will start soon, can anyone tell me if home insurance is obligatory for the home during probate? We hadn't had home insurance for years and I'm not sure how I'm going to afford it,I'm rather ill to say the least after my very long and intense caring role and it will be a while before I'm able to work after the trauma that it involved
House insurance for inherited house during probate,is it obligatory

If you are sole executor and sole beneficiary and now sole resident and if it is owned freehold with no mortgage or loan secured on the house there's no legal.requirement to insure.
But I'm sure I won't be the only person to point out that not insuring it is extremely unwise. If it burnt down everything you own.would be gone.
