I recently lost my brother at the age of 73. I'm told his estate mainly consists of a single-family home (no mortgage) and an IRA account containing mostly treasury bills. The IRA account is through Vanguard. I'm not the executor, so I'm totally and completely in the dark as to what the status of anything is. I'm assuming that the treasury bills are being sold to divided the money among 3 beneficiaries. How long should this process take? I'm told that we're waiting for Vanguard to do something but I don't know what.
