Do Probate look into the registration of a property before granting probate or is the task of the Executor after probate to assist registration?

No. Getting Probate is just proving that the Executor is the person(s) legally entitled to administer the Estate. It's up to the Executors to sort out issues about who owns property.
That said, it is the responsibility of the Executor who applies for Probate to declare the value of the Esate for IHT purposes which might be relevant to ownership/registration of a property if there is doubt about who owns it and whether it is part of the Estate. All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.
