  • solicitor/will writer personal wealth.

On looking for a solicitor or will writer I was put off by them asking for the value of my property and my personal wealth on their forms.

My parents wills had no mention of amounts of estate. Naturally I had to put the amounts onto the probate form application.

Qu; Is this normal? should I avoid them?

    Many Thanks.

A good solicitor will want to form an idea of the size and nature of your estate and the various possible legal and moral claims on it.

Ask your solicitor to explain the principles of client confidentiality to you.

Thank you, I won't be instructing a solicitor to do anything other than writing our wills.

But writing your will requires an idea of your worth in order to advise properly what steps need to be taken / can be taken to minimise IHT.
If you find a solicitor prepared to write a will without asking such a question, then run a mile.
