  • Changing my will.

My simple will leaves everything to be shared equally to my four adult children, However, I wish now to exclude one of them,...
Is this a simple procedure or a visit to a Solicitor to rewrite my will.
    Thank you for any advice.

DIY wills can be a great source of litigation. But if you are certain you can get everything right, then go ahead.

Does the child you propose to disinherit have any grounds to claim to be in any way dependent on you?

My will has been prepared by a Solicitor: just wondered if I could add to it, suitably witnessed.
My daughter is a mature adult, forty two and financially sound, and is in no way, dependent on me.

        None whatever.

Your solicitor can prepare a Codicil to your Will, no need to have a complete new Will, but make sure that you also leave a letter of wishes explaining why you are removing one of your children from the Will, just in case that child disputes it after you have died.
