    Did your mother leave a will and does your father have a will because either may have a bearing on what happens? A trust can take many forms, four lines in isolation is not enough to advise.

        You can pass on assets up to the value of the nil rate band without creating an Inheritance Tax bill. The nil rate band is currently £325,000 and it will remain fixed at this amount until April 2026

        This is the point where I bow out, as I have no expertise in this field. I’m sure others will pick up this thread and be able to help you.
