  • My sister wants the will changed

Hi I hope I can get some advice here. 12 years ago my mother took out equity release for funds for herself and to help me to reduce my mortgage. My sister meanwhile hasn't worked in 20 years and has been supported by her husband and this family. She has recently found out about this and wants the money I was given plus the interest to be taken from my half of the will. Can she demand this? My sister has only surfaced since finding out that my mother is very ill.

Sorry to hear of your mother's ill health.

Do you know the content's of your mother's will?
Are you and your sister joint beneficiaries of your mother's will on a 50/50 basis?

Your sister can want whatever she wants?
She can even stamp her feet, but whether or not she will get what she wants is a different matter.

The fact she is unhappy about your mother's generosity to you would not be seen by the courts as a reason for varying the will

I would suggest you just look after your mother while she is unwell and not fret about your sister's untimely display of greed
