  • Property Ownership

    Hello,
My father gave me a very old house and after starting on fixing up this old house, I found out that the house is still in his deceased brothers name who at the time of death, was still legally married. I went to the probate court and received the paperwork for her to sign over the house but now she's wanting money for the property. My father, who also use to live in the house until he built his own house, paid the house off and has been paying the property taxes for the past 20+ years. The deceased brother passed away over 14 years ago.
Is there anyway that my father can gain ownership since the wife has never paid taxes on this house and she doesn't even know where the house is located?
    Thank you
