hi guys i had a few problems with hsbc a few years ago from what i understand the majority of there phone calls concerning debt come through from the phillipines there very sneaky i don,t know how they do it but it doesn,t seem to come up as a international number.

The call centre in India is connected over the internet to HSBC in the UK. That's why calls from there are "local" because technically it's a call from HSBC to you. Many companies these days use Internet based telephony systems.

Had 4 calls now, this time i answered and asdked who IS this, phone went dead

Three missed calls from this number plus the one I answered.
Asked for Mrs xxxxx w(wrong name) and they were "UK insurance" wanted me to confirm who I was etc.
Put the phone down.
When goggled, no real information as when you try 1471 there is a recoded message to say " No attendant" avialable.

I got so fed up with'cold calls' even though we have an ex directory number I don't have the ringer on half the time,if it's urgent and the person knows me they know my mobile number I ring the 'family' every night when it's on freebie minutes
Plus,,we have a 5 digit phone number (old village,,old exchange) and it always causes havoc cos computer systems won't accept it,,they need 6 digits Trust me to be awkward eh?
