how can you trace a mobile number

I have a friend at work who is recieving strange and provocative txts froma moble number and has no idea who it is, is there any way it can be traced?

You could try ringing it and ask who it is? What is the content of the messages?

If the calls/texts are in anyway threatening or malicious then they should save the texts and show them to the police, they will soon stop.

If she thinks it is from work, try calling in the room and see whom of her workmates gets a call. Make sure she adds 141 in front as it means her number won't show.

Apparently she has tried ringing it but the person doesnt answer, besides if it was someone at work they`d have the phone switched off or on silent as we work in a hospital lol.

Use a phonebox to call, the number will show and the owner of the phone may answer as it's a local number.
