Re: TalkTalk Bill issues. What is the best step?

At last what looks like a resolution. Had a phone call from someone with an Irish accent so it looks like the UK support. It is accepted that I have cancelled, with more than the required 7 days notice. He also agreed that the connection will continue until such time as I run out of money or BT connect to the line. What he did ask is that I phone them when the BT actually connect to let them know. It would seem that BT don't always invoke the MAC so O2 wouldn't know that BT now have the line. Now why couldn't they say that in the first place!!

Thanks for the many replies, will read them when I return from work.

Though have spoken with a family member who had an issue with them too and she cancelled etc. They asked her for final pay and she refused due to them breaching contracts etc. She then told them if they didn't leave her alone she would pursue legal actions. No word since.

Might give this a go if I can find proof of her contract which she doesn't actually have!

First off, I think you will find complaints for all providers, my OH will never use Orange or BT again and is with Sky now. I have TT and apart from their rubbish customer service they have been ok, bit slow on speed but ok.

When my ex died I called TT and told them to disconnect etc etc gave them my address and was told there was nothing to pay. 6 months later I got a bill for £44 , just told em to sod off there was no money left

Going back to the original point, TT did this to their own customers several years ago, I think at the time we were paying line rental in arrears and they wanted to move it to in advance so they gradually brought the date forward over a few months. That's my recollection. They are no longer the cheapest but hey ho

Re: TalkTalk Bill issues. What is the best step?

Just had a phone call from sister in law about TT. She has been a customer for quite some years and cancelled in February, cancelling the DD after one more payment was taken. Yesterday she received a letter from TalkTalk saying that if a not insignificant amount of money is not paid to them within 7 days then they will take action to recover. I have advised her to write to them disputing that she owes them any money and asking for a breakdown of these alleged bills.

On my own problem with cancelling O2 they notified me that they would be collecting from the (cancelled) direct debit. I did query as I had cancelled. Then I got the astonishment that I had cancelled the direct debit. Then the suggestion that I should pay the bill and they would refund the overpayment in the next billing cycle. I said I would pay a corrected bill when presented. 18 emails later the corrected bill is there on my account. O2 asking me to use the automated payment system to pay but the system is still trying to collect the larger incorrect amount. Hey Ho. And now you know why I say cancel the DD

P.S. Just received a letter (real live snail mail!) telling me that charges have been raised on my account and added to my bill (!!). It was in fact a rebate for the time I didn't use and the bill is reduced. It did give another number for an automated payment system and this time it worked!! So...... lets see how long it takes for the payment to be applied to the account.

O2 again. Despite everything being paid the online account details show that a credit is due to me. Just received an email saying that they will collect the corrected amount (which I've paid) by direct debit on the 7th of next month. Could be an interesting few emails. just shows how efficient these companies are.

Has the original poster got anywhere with TalkTalk?
