BT are upping their prices from January.
With the amount of complaints regarding them on this site, I thought it would be useful for people to know that if you ring them, within 10 days of recieving their email (or ASAP from reading this) and state that you are unhappy paying more for the service, you can leave your contract free.
They are not actively publizing this change, you have to open a few windows to open this HOWEVER, the Puffster (to quote my darling Inca) has thought of this too
Price changes from 5 January 2013
From 5 January 2013 we're changing some of our Voice, Broadband and Vision prices. We'll be telling everyone from 1 September via BT Update magazine (usually included with your paper bill) and via email for people who view their bill online. Following the price changes we'll be freezing a number of our key prices until 2014 at the earliest.
We know that no one likes price increases, which is why we've kept changes to 5.9% or less for Voice and Broadband and we will freeze prices on monthly line rental, UK landline calls, BT Broadband, BT Infinity, Vision Essential, and the Unlimited Anytime Plan from 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest.
We always try to help reduce the impact of price changes. For example, with the Unlimited Anytime Plan you don't pay set-up fees or UK daytime pence per minute charges, so avoid any increase on these prices. And even at its new price the plan will remain cheaper than Virgin Media and TalkTalk's standard calling plan.
We also offer Line Rental Saver, where you pay for a year upfront and get an equivalent monthly price of £10.75. This means you can save more than £56.50 over a full year on the new line rental price.
We're sorry you're are unhappy about how the price rises affect you and would rather that you stayed with BT as we believe we offer fantastic services and products. We've kept a number of our key prices frozen since December 2011 and will be freezing many of our prices again from the 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest. However if you contact us directly within 10 calendar days of receiving our price change notification you may cease your services without penalty.
Hope this helps
