  • Silent Calls - ATOS

    Hi
I have recieved a few silent phone calls and every time I answered there is nobody there.
I checked the number and found out it was ATOS medical harassment group.
As I keep getting silent calls, how many should I recieve before complaining to OFCOM?

    I'd file the complaint now.

I take the view silent calls are worse than sales calls, calls from DCA's or other types of unwanted calls as they can be really distressing to the person receiving them. I too would report it now.

I have filed a complaint to ofcom, and if they continue I will notify the police (according to Ofcom's website).
Hope these harasser will be fined through their teeth.

            Cheers for the advice.

You could also complain to your MP; the conduct of ATOS has attracted criticism in Parliament recently

According to Ofcom's website they can't take up individual complaints, but if everyone who's getting silent calls let them know they can then make a case against Atos and other companies.
I really hope the government do something about it but I'm not holding my breath.

SpringerSpaniel, do you remember what was said? Must have missed it..
My MP? He's only gurning in front of a camera...

There is a parliamentary committee which deals with DWP, they have been quite harsh in their criticisms of ATOS recently.

A wide variety of disability groups and specific campaigns are campaigning about ATOS, you might find a search on Facebook gives you some useful leads.

                      Had a quick look on the web an one thing I found very intetesting was;
apparently DWP has an agreement/arrangement with GMC not to investigate 'doctors' employed by Atos.
correct me if I'm wrong but all drs should follow GMC's rules whoever employs them..

The doctors should still have to comply with GMC requirements and be subject to the requirements of their professional body, whoever employs them.

I do not see how the DWP can lawfully come to any other arrangement.

The oafs are probably trying to send a fax and have dialled the wrong number.

All registered doctors should, but one might suspect that the staff employed by ATOS (who are rumoured to be cheapskates) are not registered doctors; some are said to be "nurse practitioners", whilst others may be midwives.

They receive some training, though, on how to complete forms and how to decide that people with disabilities are hale and hearty.
