  • I have a dispute with Npower over their bill, so how can I stop a Warrant of Entry

I have running dispute with Npower. I have asked them for information on my account but they keep leaving something out.
I was also mis-sold their contract in 2011 which has been well publicized in the Media.

I was credited with £50.00 as good gesture which I refused.

Now I have received a notice by a company called Secus claiming that they are applying for a hearing to obtain a Warrant of Entry on the 24th February 2014 at 9:30. But when I called them they were really vague and told me that they have returned the case back to Npower.

I called the court and asked if there is such a hearing scheduled. To my amazement they told me that they don't deal with any information on Utility Companies applications for Warrant of Entry.

So how am I to know if there is a hearing or not. Surely it is court's duty to give notice of a hearing and I haven't had any such notice but it could have got lost in the post or mislaid somewhere in the corridor as mail often does.

Can some one who has dealt with Warrants of Entry by Utility companies explain this to me. I don't want prepayment meters installed and I don't want to be bullied into paying a bill which I know is not right.

What the magistrate court told me sounds totally crazy. It just doesn't sound like due process.

    Please help.

First off you must try and sort out the dispute with the actual bill or amount owed.

If you have not already read their T&Cs I have posted them for you

Re: I have a dispute with Npower over their bill, so how can I stop a Warrant of Entr

      As I said,
I have been trying but they won't provide me with the necessary information.
I asked them to send me a statement so I can see how much I have used and at what tarrif those have been calculated.
1-they changed my tarrif from a cheaper one to a more expensive one after the first year.
2- When I signed up with them they told me that the charges on the that tarrif would remain the same but then they changed it.
3- When I tried to settle on a monthly direct debit. They quoted £120, then 190 and then 160. Where and how did they get these numbers over only one month?
Then there is the question of mis-selling of the contract. They were supposed to sort it out by the end of January and they still haven't.
I have paid them £200.00 to show that I am not trying to get out of anything but I need this sorted out before I pay anymore.

I am not quite sure which bit of the terms and conditions you are referring to. As far as I can see it they have broken their own contract.

I would be glad to change supplier and then sort out the disputed charges but they won't let me go without first paying what they claim I owe them.

Also I don't undert stand how can they possibly apply for it without the court notifying me of the date of hearing? And when I call the court they can't tell me if there is a hearing or not scheduled.

Surely this can not possibly be legal.

I called the court and they said they don't deal with the paper work for these hearing, then who does? Surely the energy company can not be relied on giving correct information. There has to be a court office who can tell if there is such a hearing scheduled or not.

If I can find out then I will go to the hearing and explain. Otherwise it will be a trial in absentia, wouldn't it?

Regardless of any terms and conditions this will not be in accordance with the law of the land, surely.

Is there a term in the contract which says that I will be signing to this?

Please let me know asap as I am assuming that this application could be heard any day now and I would not be aware of it.

      Thanks

I posted the T&Cs as it states they will take no action until the dispute is sorted on page 8.

If you were only on a 12 monthly contract then they will change their rates after that, if you were on a fixed contract for longer than that it would have stated so on the agreement when you signed up with them.

Are you saying you have never received a statement either written or on line?
