      Re: Profiteering: Central Heating Oil

      Beginning of November I paid £470 including 5% vat for a delivery of heating oil.
      Had another delivery for same quantity on Wednesday this week, cost £615, and my supplier is around 10p per litre cheaper than other suppliers.

      If you dont have a budgeting plan in place the suppliers insist on payment up front or cash on delivery.

        My last delivery was 46p per litre;
        now the price is 67p per litre and;
        cannot be delivered until mid January

        The Telegraph – “Winter fuel rationing on the way” The paper leads with a similar story to the Indy, but it is more fleshed out. Up to two million homes, schools and hospitals face fuel rationing over Christmas as the cold weather makes delivery of supplies impossible. The Telegraph, don’t forget, has a high proportion of rural readers and they will be particularly affected by this. This has the potential to be a real crisis and the paper is taking a strong lead on it early.

            Very, very hard for people to find the extra money to fill their oil tanks;
            bad enough at the fluctuating regular price.

            Some poeple in Scotland are having to pay £1 per litre, that is if they can even obtain the oil!

              Many prople in my area only have oil for cooking and heating;
              many of them are pensioners, also.

              In the cold weather one just watches the oil level dropping down.

              People in my area cannot obtain a delivery of oil now, until mid January. That is of course, if they can find the money to pay for it!

                There was something on Sky News about this, here is the article from their website

                  Mr Hendry also revealed the Government has called in the Office of Fair Trading to examine whether profiteering has been going on during the cold weather.
                  Prices have increased from under 40p a litre of oil to more than 70p in some cases in the last month, amid allegations oil companies are fixing their prices.
                  Heating oil is essential for an estimated 660,000 households that do not have access to gas supplies, and is especially common in rural areas."

                  The Gov. is in denial re: the rationing of central heating oil!

                  People who need a delivery before Christmas, will be dissapointed and Cold...
