Should have waited an hour before posting. Just received a letter from NPower stating we are due a refund of £84.31 and that they will be forwarding a cheque to us in the next 14 days.

Ours can arrive any time between 10.30am to 2.30pm. Remember the days when there used to be 2 deliveries a day? one at 7.30am and another at 4.00pm

Are you staying with these or have you got a chance to switch?
I had a quick look at some comparison sites but they didn't seem to have updated all the increased prices yet so going to wait a couple of weeks and then recheck.

Just a few snippets of info regarding prepayment meters.

          key token electric meters.
The blue button on the top right of your meter will show you all the information you need, tariffs, kw/h used, debt level, if any and how much you are paying towards your debt each week.
There is also a £5 charge each week whether you have debt or not.
When you top up your key, any tariff or price changes are entered into the keys memory and transferred to your meter so they dont need to come out and do this manually.
You can now get a home top up kit which is a usb hub, this does the same thing as the one in the shops, you simply register your debit card and top up whenever you like without going out.
          GAS card meters
Much the same as the key meters for electric, they have the same functions, just use a card instead of a key. These too can be topped up at home with a kit from your supplier.
The only difference with card meters for gas is they take a little longer to load the info from the card but as with key meters, any changes to tariffs etc is done through the card and not via a visit from the supplier.

If you are struggling with debt your supplier can reduce the amount you pay towards your debt down to £4 a week but remember if you do not top up every week then it will take double or treble when you do, depending on when you top up.

I have been in the gas industry for 20 years, if you need any more info, just ask i'll do my best to help out where i can.

The only charge we pay, apart from that for electricity used, is the standing charge which pre increase is £1.38(incl VAT).

Your friend needs to speak to a licensed debt counsellor, preferably one that doesn't charge. CAB or the debt counselling service on the main forum page that has a link at the bottom right-hand side are free services. Npower does not have a good record where this sort of thing is concerned and getting in touch with the regulator OFGEM might not be a bad idea.

                Hope this helps.
