EON Energy Illegal Smart Meter Installation
Hi all,
My wife and I own a semi derelict property which had a key top-up meter. The metre is on the inside of our property and as it's semi derelict we've put up 8ft anti climb security fencing around it with paddlocks, so it's all very secure. A couple of days ago, someone in the village informed me that some lights were on in my property. I couldn't work out why as there were no funds on the metre and the main fuses, which are in the same location as the metre, were switched off. I went to inspect to find that either EON or a contractor of theirs had climbed over the security gate, bent it, causing damage, had changed the old meter to a new smart one, removed our external secutity lights and left them on the floor and had then turned on the power. We have been doing some internal renovation work and had bare socket wires on both floors, which could have caused injury or even death if anybody had entered without knowing that the electricity meter had been changed and turned on!. I want to ring them and ask for a full explanation as to why we weren't informed and why they caused so much criminal damage, however before I proceed, wanted to find out if anybody else has had this experience or what action I could consider, thanking you in advance.
