Not sure if this has been posted before but found this on NPower website.

What is the Spreading Warmth tariff?
It is a new tariff from npower that delivers a total dual fuel annual discount of £250 Exc. VAT (£125 per fuel)†.

    Who is eligible?
If you have a gross annual household income of less than £13,500 and where someone in the household meets at least one of the eligibility criteria below:
    • aged over 60
    • disabled
    • suffers from a chronic illness
    • a child under 16

When will the discount be paid?
Initially the annual discount will be applied as a one off discount of £125 per fuel on the first bill after 1st January 2009. From the 1st April 2009 onwards, discounts may be applied in installments. However if you have a prepayment meter we may choose to send it to you rather than credit it to your account.

      Re: npower's Spreading Warmth tariff

I signed up for spreading the warmth with Npower in December, I am still waiting for the £125 payment towards my electricity, everytime i ring them they tell me that they will have a payment to me within the next 14 days!!!! I understand that they have many payments to send out, but this should have been considered when the scheme was launched and the sales reps made promises on Npowers behalf. I recieved the payment for gas in April, and another quarterly credit last week, but still nothing towards my electric.
I wonder how many other people switched companies in the hope of help towards fuel costs through the winter months, and are still like me waiting

        Re: npower's Spreading Warmth tariff

I would put a formal complaint in writing asking them for a response because as you said, they have said 14 days to you everytime you ring. See what they do in writing.

Thanks for the advice, i actually e-mailed N power with my complaint. Someone then rang me back and told me that they would have a payment in the post within 14 days, lol, 14 days later no payment, so I telephoned them and threatened them with the gas consumer ombudsman, and hey presto, the payments due arrived within 3 days, so a result at last. :tinysmile_grin_t:
