  • Smart parking uk

Hi , I am looking for some advice .

Smart Parking Uk had camera's in the local hotel carpark in 2021

I was in a wake in the function suite in said hotel . We had hotels permission to park due to being in function suite , within weeks numerous of us paying respects that day received a parking fine . We had went to hotel to which we were told that they had had problems with company . I phoned Smart Parking to explain situation and had got an apology and told not to worry as no need to pay any fine , on Saturday this week I received a letter from a dcbl ( direct collection bailffs Ltd ) stating i owe S P £170 for a parking fine from 2021 . Have tried phoning S P but they don't accept phonecalls , emailed that explaining the situation yet again and would appreciate if the stop sending letters as I owe nothing and that if this has damaged my credit rating and slurred my name I will be seeking legal advise .....

    any advice much appreciated

    Gav

Pleading with DCBL will get you nowhere.
They are solely debt collectors and are only interested in your money.

I would ignore them and complain directly to their CEO or at 5 South Inch Business Centre, Shore Road, Perth, Perth And Kinross, PH2 8BW.

Tell him what you have told us, and ask him why , if the charge had not been withdrawn why was it not followed up four years ago.
Suggest that you did consider them an honourable company, but now not so sure.

If you cannot get it cancelled they are likely to pass the case to their tame solicitors (DCB LEGAL) who will initiate court action

As you have identified the driver (pity as they can't transfer liability for unpaid charges from driver to keeper in Scotland) you will have to defend the case.
Defence will depend on signage, the wording of the claim .

Can you contact the venue to see if their records/memories can provide support for your account?
Have any other attendees encountered the same problem?
