  • Internet Explorer 9

Full version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 was released for download today.

It did not come up in windows update for me even after doing a search for updates so I manually downloaded it from microsoft download certre.

Now I have no intentions on using it at the moment but like to keep my pc upto date as I am a firefox man.

So has anyone else downloaded it and if so what you think, is it any match for the other browsers like firefox or chrome.

    Re: Internet Explorer 9

Afraid I have no intention of ever using any release of IE. I just do not trust it.

I just had to dig about in Program Files to launch IE to find out I have release 7 !!!

I have been using Opera since release 6 and can't see me changing. I've tried FF but don't like the idea of having to use add-ons lashed up by spotty teenagers in their bedrooms just to get it to behave or look like Opera does 'out of the box'. Plus I'd have to use a different email client (Opera's M2 mail client is integral).

Are you saying that by having the latest release of IE on your PC you are improving security ? 'Cos I don't think that follows. If you don't use IE how can malware get into your machine through it ??
They were out to get me!! But now it's too late!!

That is a good point, never thought of opera on my pc although I do use that as a mobile browser and seems ok

Note IE9 is not for Win XP
Also IE is tightly integrated into the operating system, a fully patched system (you would not use anything else, would you?) should have the latest versions of all software installed, even if you don't use them
