  • Broadband is playing up

I have a werid problem with my broadband. It won't work unless i am using the phone at the same time. If i make a call it seems to nudge the broadband into making a connection. If i'm not on the phone i get no connection at all.

I'm with sky and they have tested the phone line and say all is ok. I have also changed the mirco filter and leads from the router to the filter.

    Any ideas????

This is likely to be a high resistance fault somewhere on the line. This occurs when you have a poor contact, probably at the pole or one of the street cabinets, but it could be somewhere inside your house.

Do you also have a noisy or crackly voice service?

As usual you are completely and absolutely right Cetelco!!!!

Our landline became very crackly and so i contacted Sky again and within 2 hours an engineer came out and identified the fault as a pole fault. It turned out that the conatct to the pole was the problem and it was swifty sorted. (after i'd made the engineer a cup of tea!!!)

Our broadband is now working faster and better than it ever has before
      !!

I have to say that once i'd got past the normal customer services, Sky were brilliant and resolved the problem very quickly.
