I've been very silly and let myself be scammed out of £80 which I cant afford to lose . I had a call from a nice lady a few weeks ago offering a subscription to a magazine and wanting a pound for p&P so gave them card details now they've taken £80 . No magazine and no fuel voucher as promised . They are called Pomotional Media Services Ltd No. 6596260 Apparently they have form for this . I am going to cancel the card and go to the bank cancelling all recurring payment authorities. Just avoid them like the plague.

Re: Magazine and petrol voucher scam
For £80 it won't matter for s75 as that is £100. However the card company or bank need contacted as there is clearly an unauthorised transaction.

Re: Magazine and petrol voucher scam
Full details as to how the scam works are like this. You get rung up by a pleasant woman asking if you want a magazine trial and a£20 petrol voucher. There is a long spiel and then they ask you for £1 for pand p and if you want to sign up to the magazine for an £80 sub. Can't afford £80 really but go for it to see what the magazine is like. The magazine doesn't turn up nor does the voucher then you get stung for the £80 fee. The co wont refund as this takes place a month later outside cooling off periods. My BS have returned the money while they investigate but I'm not hopeful as they usually find for the merchant.

Re: Magazine and petrol voucher scam
14 days (was 7 days) cancellation period is from the date after the day you receive the goods, not the date you agree to purchase, or trial period in this case!

Re: Magazine and petrol voucher scam
I have actually had three copies of the wretched magazine they produce called sapphire . If you like lifestyle glossies its ok but only one for the year . It comes with a packet of Basil seed. The voucher schemes work like this what you have to do is buy the product at full price and then return the voucher and the receipt to them and they will issue a cheque . Fortunately I have alway written back and cancelled as soon as the magazine appears .

Re: Magazine and petrol voucher scam
Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but I have nearly been caught out by the same thing right now. a lady phones and asks if you would answer a few questions regarding your lifestyle and if you would give to certain charities, in exchange for £20 of fuel. I was then asked my favourite colour and someone would phone me he next day to arrange sending the vouchers. Then Kieron phoned the next day with a lot of small talk, saying they were a charity and i would need to pay £1 postage for the vouchers and a magazine with lots of other saving in it. He asked for my card details, I old him I was reluctant to do this due to all the scams about at the moment. This sounds very much like the same scam as above, so is sill circulating, if I am wrong, I apologise to the company for my lack of faith in humanity now, but I doubt it. I think I have had a narrow escape!
