When I try and follow the link, it wants me to download a flash player which my security has identified as being malicious!

Is this from LB and is in fact my craptop living up to it's name?

Download flash player from a safe source to be sure. You can't be too careful.

I'm on Chrome, too, Puff, and, as you say, it downloads updates automatically. I had a site say I needed to download and update and AVG identified it as malicious.

            Re: Is this a scam?

We get alot of these scam emails from twitter users that follow our company account. Somewhere some how, someone has hacked a twitter account and sent an message to their followers wanting them to download this or that. What you really download is a maliscious software that tracks your computer history, it sends data to the software creater (hacker) which enables them to get hold of your personal data and passwords for websites etc.

Never download anything that you are directed to via email as it nearly 100% of the time some similar software that sends data to hackers. IF it is a legit email then it would never direct you to a site asking you to download something.

              Re: Is this a scam?

a few months ago people were getting emails from adobe about updating. that was a scam email for a virus infection to take over hotmail accounts and send everyone in your contact list a chance to buy the little blue pills

if anything needs updating, just go to their main website in your search bar and not follow any links
