Received in my inbox allegedly from HMRC UK

Following an upgrade of our computer systems and review of our records we
have investigated your payments and latest tax over the last seven
years our calculations show you made over payments of 256.99 GBP.
Due to the high volume of refunds due you must complete the line application,
the telephone help line is unable to assist with this application.

In order to process your refund you will need to complete the application form.(Hot link to scam site)
Your refund may take up to 3 weeks to process please make sure you complete the form correctly.

The sending e-mail address is really telling as it's a normal MSN.com address.
So since when has HMRC started using hotmail for its comms

As the old adage holds, If It Sounds To Good To Be True, Then It Probably is.

This is not new, last year I posted up the same type of email because some of hubbys clients had received them and straight away he knew it was not true and a scam.

Please beware, as this is the same as the banks one which ask for personal details and once given well who knows but they can walk off with your identity or money or both. The revenue do NOT send out emails like this and certainly not from MSN.

Many unfortunately will fall for it.

folks also worth a mention specially at this time of year which was in my local paper today beware of parcal drop portcards going through letterboxes that give a premium rate 0900 number you can be scammed for as much as £300 for one short call

Some identical word for word to that one recently.
