Victim of data breach, what should I do?

I just found an old email dated back in December last year from a company I used to deal with.
Apparently due to a data breach, the following personal information was leaked out:
Name
Address
Date of birth
NI number

Is there much I can do in terms of claiming any money or taking the company to court? Not sure if there is a time limit with these. Any advice or direction, please let me know

You need to lodge a complaint with the company, do it in writing (make sure you get Proof of Postage) follow their complaints procedure, if it's not resolved, then lodge a complaint with the ICO.

As the ICO says:

You should also bear in mind that the court can award costs to you or against you in certain circumstances. For example, if you fail to demonstrate you have suffered damage or distress, the court will not award you compensation and could order you to pay the other party’s costs.
