In that event, your statement in your first post that "I acknowledged I owed her but didn’t admit to obtaining it by defrauding her" caused me (and possibly others) to misunderstand. The misunderstanding comes from a lawyer's scepticism at seeing a "non-admission" being used and not a denial.

I see. I hope I didn’t put my foot in it at the police station then because the first thing I said in the interview was that I fully acknowledge I owe it but I didn’t obtain the money by fraud. And then they asked me if this was a breach of contract then. And I said yes. I’ve also sent a contract out today offering a payment plan even though this will only be useful in mitigation. I will be sending an instalment over on Monday whether she agrees to it or not. I don’t know if it’s a smart move but out of principle I want to pay it.

I realise that. There was no crime. I just want to protect my character . Even though I am experiencing financial and mental health issues I still intend to repay.
