  • Selling donated item

Hi I hope I have put this post in the right place. Anyway here goes. I recently acquired a shed from a charity for a friend who claimed to have mental health issues. I sent an email on his behalf asking if they would pay for a shed for him as he was a keen gardener and thought it would help him store his gardening things and use as a potting shed. The charity agreed and delivered the shed and my husband erected it for him. He has had it about a year and basically just used it to store his junk. Now he has decided to sell it. I am absolutely disgusted that he is selling something that he got for free. We live in a housing scheme and he is moving to warden controlled housing so can not take it with him so is trying to sell it to one of the other residents. Can he do this and should I inform the charity who donated it. Because surely this can't be right. To make a profit from someone else's kindness and a charity. Thank you

There is no legal theory that I am aware of that prevents the recipient of a gift selling it.
