If a patient is served hospital supplied and cooked food that contains an ingredient that they are allergic to and they suffer an allergic reaction would this fall under the jurisdiction of the local trading standards office (as it would be with food "bought" from a restaurant or takeaway) or as it hasn't been bought would it just be a hospital complaint and then onto the CQC?
Food allergy in hospital. Trading Standards or CQC?

I'd say Hospital / CQC, but it might be an idea to lodge a complaint with Environmental Health at the local Council.Originally posted by MikeB47 View PostIf a patient is served hospital supplied and cooked food that contains an ingredient that they are allergic to and they suffer an allergic reaction would this fall under the jurisdiction of the local trading standards office (as it would be with food "bought" from a restaurant or takeaway) or as it hasn't been bought would it just be a hospital complaint and then onto the CQC?
Problem with hospital complaints, I'm not sure they actually investigate the way they should.

Something arose when I was in hospital about two years ago. My daughter knew about the position of hospital clinical site manager. She reported the issue to that person and my issue was very quickly dealt with and resolved.
Do an internet search. Apparently people in this role have overall responsibility for everything that goes on in a hospital.
Through experience, i'm not a great believer in the PALS system.
Also phone public health at your local council (not sure if public health and environmental health are the same?)
