HI all, I was involved in an accident where a driver pulled out infront of me. I was injured as a result. I received a letter from the police last week advising that no further action would be taken against the 3rd party, however the video evidence proves otherwise as confirmed by my insurers. The issue I have is that my speedometer shows I was doing 37mph in a 30mph zone. would the police look to charge both us me for exceeding the speed limit and the other driver driving dangerously if I were to provide the video>?

Why would you want to provide the police with your footage after they have completed their enquiries?

You were insured, as presumably was the other driver so you should suffer no loss.
If your excessive speed contributed to the incident, and it is noted the police might reopen the case, and it might affect settlement of your insurance
claim.

PS the other driver might only be prosecuted for careless driving

The police were not aware of the video plus the extent of my injuries are so bad that I feel that the driver should be penalised, not just in terms of higher insurance costs but also points. The question is am I making a rod for my own back supplying a video that not only shows the 3rd party at fault but shows I was speeding albeit by 7mph?

Three points + fine upto 150% of your weekly income.

But also if the insurers decide your speed contributed to the accident and/or the severity of your injuries your compensation could be proportionally reduced
