  • Taking a UK financed vehicle abroad permanently.

    Hi,
Hope someone can help with some advice.
I have a vehicle which was bought new in the UK two years ago and is under dealer finance.
I have recently moved to France to live and have taken this vehicle with me.
I am in the process of registering the vehicle in France (LHD headlights, controle technique
certificate & manufacturers certificate of conformity) and I informed the finance company
    of my change of address.
They have replied saying that i am not able to do this under the terms of the agreement and
must immediately settle the dealer finance agreement.

Does anyone know if they are able to do this ?
I would have thought that this was against EU law and the right to reside where ever you want ?

    Hi
You need to check the T & C's of your contract carefully because every site I've checked on says No,you can't (because the vehicle isn't yours until the finance is paid off)

I could be wrong of course so check with your finance company too.
