    My sons old car has finally given up the ghost so he has arranged to sell it for scrap value to Motorhog.

    What sections of his V5 does he need to complete please

    Is it being scrapped if it is motorhog will have to give a destruction certificate or you change owners details if its just sold
    Make sure its done properly

      Hi Cyn, because he is not personally disposing of the vehicle is is treated as if he is selling the car as normal.
      • Sign section 8 on the V5C.
      • Get the buyer to also sign section 8 on the V5C.
      • Give the buyer the completed V5C/2 section.
      • Send the V5C to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.

        I would personally cash in any road tax remaining on the vehicle and then make a SORN declaration , that way he will no longer receive fines etc for not taxing it. It has been known for DVLA to "loose" paperwork.DO NOT RELY ON MOTORHOG TO SEND OFF THE PAPERWORK!! Make sure HE sends it.
