  • VT on CAr

    HI All

Found you forum and your help is most helpful.

I have VT my car with Adv finance. I'm over the half way for paying, but there is arrears of £700, which i have asked for a breakdown as i have no idea what its for. They are also saying that they are adding £80 for collecting the car, which i stated to them that i dont accept, and also that they will contact me after the car has sold as if it is not in good condition. (see below email received)

Thank you for your email please be advise our agent from Newark Motor Auctions will be in contact regarding the collection of your vehicle the £80.00 collection fee will be added to the outstanding balance.

Please have the vehicle log book, MOT certificate, service book and all keys ready with the vehicle at the time of collection.

The goods must have been kept in good repair and condition at your expense, both mechanically and cosmetically. Should the goods not be in satisfactory condition when returned to us you will be required to pay to us the amount required to return the goods to a satisfactory condition. (as per your voluntary termination letter)This amount will be in addition to any sums detailed above (please refer to the terms and conditions of your Hire Purchase Agreement). If you are in any doubt as to the condition of the vehicle you may choose to obtain an independent report from an VAT registered garage to ascertain the condition of your vehicle.

Once the vehicle has been sold we will write to you to inform of the outstanding balance payable

My CAr has done 170k and dodnt have a servcie book when car purchased. I have all the recepits for the work but i dont want to give them to the aution house as i dont want randoms having my detials. Alos my car still has a warrtanty on it that i purcahsed, would this be sold with the car, as i dont want to pay for something that i wont have any benifit from. I havent been able to claim any work on it at all as nothing was covered!

There is no requirement for you to pay any sum to return their vehicle, so that is rubbish, you are responsible for any arrears on the account up until the termination date which you specified on your letter.

The usual procedure is for them to send an inflated bill to you post termination, most of what they claim will be unenforceable in law, but it does not seem to stop them. Eventually they give up.

Car is done and gone. I have got pics etc. It went to an auction house for sale. They done no vehicle inspection when it was collected. i had to get the driver to sign a receipt to say he collected it. I took pics of the condition and pics of the vehicle being taken away.

I have now received a letter saying that they want £900 which complies of (£600 arears whioch i will pay) the rest is charges? £460 to restore the car to a standard but no breakdown of what it includes? the car was in great condition for the age and mileage, £800 for the warranty, which i never used and never could claim against! They have now said that they will update my credit file stating default until i settle it.

what can i do, i dont think i should pay for repairs as the vehicel was in great condition and they haven't done anything about showing what this alleged money it for, the charges are for DD bounce fees, which they can poke it, and for a warranty which cannot be transferred to another car but is sold with the vehicle,( why should i pay).

        Any suggestions would be great

        thanks

Pay the arrears - you have to do that.

If you're feeling mischievous, you can always ask for a copy of the invoice and receipt for the repair work carried out, as you know they won't have it. Otherwise let them whistle for the remainder. You've fulfilled your contractual obligation, job done. :beagle:

Thanks Labman i agree. Happy to pay the arrears. Whats annoying me is they say that they will report onto my credit file.

And i am always feeling mischievous LOL

They can report on your credit file that everything is settled in full. They are not allowed to put anything negative on there with a VT. :beagle:
