Bus Lane Charge Notice

Hi all,

I received a bus lane penalty charge notice in the post today although i am hoping i can appeal it.

The charge is £60 - £30 if paid within 14 days, which i will happily pay if i am 100% in the wrong, however i cannot appeal this without it going to £60 (so it states on the letter).

There is photographic evidence of me entering the bus lane just before it stops in order to turn left, at which point i am joining a queue in traffic to turn left (also in the bus lane).

I entered the bus lane as the lane going straight ahead was clear and i would have restricted traffic flow going forward if i went next to the end of the bus lane and stopped, indicated and waited to turn left until the bus lane was clear, at which point i would then have been able to drive straight on and turn left at the roundabout about 10 meters ahead.

It all sounds rather complicated here so please ask questions if you are unsure and think you may be able to shed some light on this.

I would like to pay this within the 14 days to stop the fine going up, however, i think it is rather unfair to charge in this instance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't care how many threads you start on this, my answer will still be the same as on your previous attempt - link - pay up whilst you're only being asked for £30.

Firstly, it would have appeared that i posted the original thread in the wrong location, apologies for inconveniencing yourself that much with it.

Secondly, it is a bit ridiculous that the council are charging me for something like this when i would quite clearly have blocked the traffic having stuck to the regulations. I understand there are people who use the bus lane on regular occurrences in ways they shouldn't, so basically, for me, it is the principle of it in this case.

Unless you are happy to let this fine get higher and higher you really should take the easy option of paying £30,,they don't care how much you know about other road users using the bus lane,they care that YOU did it and they caught you and now they want (and are entitled to) your dosh.It's great to have principles but don't let yours cost you more than it has already.
We have seen many many motorists fight (or ignore) these fines and the damage to their pockets can be in the hundreds of pounds.
Pay it,,and maybe argue it after???

OK, go ahead. Try to appeal.

You'll lose and, by then, the penalty will be the full £60.

Then you can refuse to pay that "on principle" and have the dubious joy of having to deal with bailiffs.

Even i would pay the 30 quid chances of winning appeal are probably zilch then whhops 60 quid to pay
