  • Car on Finance..

Hi all. thanks for taking the time to read this. basically back in april 2010 i got a little vauxhall corsa on finance from santander. i have always had a bad credit rating but i managed to get it somehow? anyway i have never missed a payment and i have 2 years left to go but since then i have had 2 children and i was just wondering if i could part exchange my car in for something bigger on finance too? ive seen people saying that if the car value is more than the finance or lower etc dealers will usually settle or i pay extra, how do i get the value of the car also? any help is greatly appreciated. cheers, dave

The finance company will give you a settlement figure, or a garage would give you a part ex value. You would be better advised to sell privately as you'll get much more for the car. Obviously you would have to settle the finance immediately if you did this to stay within the law. For a value for a private sale look at Autotrader, EBay and Parkers Guide on-line.
