Re: CAG
they have become obsessed with ego, the site team that is
any sort of desent or Criticism and the thread gets deleated, especially against the select few members who are inn the inn crowd
free speach is dead and buried, the first casualty of freedom is free speach
the SWELLING of members to LEGAL BEAGLES IS TESTAMENT TO THAT
5 years ago i was proud to belong to CAG, their is no spirit left inn the forum now, shame as it was a forum leader
its as though they are scared against anything being posted against the establishment and they just want to maintain the status quo
you have to move with the times but to abandon its core values is a mistake
CAG relied on donations from people it helped get results for
people are not getting results now due to the site teams change in direction, so no donations
that is why they are starting to rely on adverts, etc just to surviveLast edited by miliitant; 13th October 2012, 19:41:PM.

Re: CAG
I visited there to read a post I was directed to. It's a very 'clinical' forum,,I read some answers and they were quite 'rude' and 'abrupt'.Not like this little kennel,,where everyone cares enough to say Hi,how are ya? All it seems to deal with there are benefits, parking etc..I wasn't comfortable at all.
I'm not au fait with a lot of laws and legislation,,I'm not thick,I just never needed to know before, and you lot lead me by the hand (oh and you all make me laugh) xxxxxx

Re: CAG
I joined CAG in 2006, and was banned in 2007 - apparently for speaking my mind and asking 'uncomfortable' questions. The admin & mod team were exposed back then as arrogant liars, and over 100 core members left in disgust after that. Many of whom arrived here eventually, after Cel and others had seen what was happening in CAG back then, and they founded LB. Many have arrived since, and I guess many more will.
It is a shame, because the size of the forum (in terms of membership numbers) seemed more important than the quality of discussion - even back then. For those who had eyes to see, THAT was the 'giveaway' - the omen or portent of things to come, IMO. That old double-enténdre "It's not the size of the claim that matters - but the way that you action it" sprang to mind. A kind of 'ego-mania' seemed to pervade the upper echelons - the 'Illuminati' of CAG - and "Correctness" seemed to take precedence over Truth.
TBH, I'm surprised it took this long for Marc G. to sell out, but it seemed inevitable. I guess that, because of its sheer size, it will continue to give the same quality of sympathy and advice that it has always done. There will always be others, such as us at 'Legal Seagulls' et al, who are there to welcome those who eventually manage to 'wise-up.'
Take the money and run, Marc. Don't look back.
Don't COME back.

The irony is that although it's ''ethos'' is to empower the customers of companies to complain about shoddy treatment, it treats it's own members with utter contempt.
One recent example is a PM sent to a member who, not unreasonably, asked why she couldn't post links to Money Saving Expert - which clearly does not breach CAGs forum rules:
'i' dont have too!!
but as you seem to be stupidly pushing this issue having been politely asked to drop it twice now......
for this particular subject, we DO NOT WANT THE LINKS PUBLISHED HERE.
regardless of it being a free site!!
other links are quite ok.
though ideally all links should go via admin [not us mere siteteam] for approval
do we understand this now?
or are you going to continually question things....
please drop it
your sand timer is almost empty
i have far better things to do
than debate this with someone respected
like yourself
there are VERY good reasons why we do not want it.

Re: CAG
At least they got a reply or some response.
Most just get restricted or banned, posts removed without any communication at all.
It is almost funny; There was a thread on there about Payday loan companies and particularly the way they were allowed to advertise by sponsoring Ant and Decs TV show. The thread went on at some length, about the questionable ethics of companies that would have such little social responsibility.
I posted some scathing remarks on there myself. Somebody must have noticed that if you scrolled to the top of the thread there were adverts for Wonga and suddenly half the posts disappeared. No explination, not that any were needed.

Re: CAG
Basically they say ''tough **** if you don't like it,we do''
a few members have named people with whom they don't feel the site should be associated with....they have been ignored.
My own opinion is that the hierachy on that forum made the decision,,without asking the paying members,,and if those members object,,they can leave.

If you start worrying about what another site does then you forget that you're on a different site where people come and go and some stay and make friends and others move onto other sites. If they have been taken over, then good for them but a lot of us on here do not visit CAG(am not even sure whether I have this year), many of us have turned the page over from that period of time and quite frankly, I think you need to as well. CAG lost a lot of credibility for a lot of us many many moons ago and the MSE takeover was more of interest to us. I think from rolling the mouse over the link that someone has written another goodbye thread that sometimes comes when we all think we are more important that we really are. I am not knocking someone for doing it but ultimately, it's an internet forum and with annonymous names which makes us all unimportant. Don't get me wrong there are users that are unvaluable on ALL sites for their knowledge of certain things and that is how others who know nothing learn about stuff.
All I can really say now on this topic really is: CAG who?"Family means that no one gets forgotten or left behind"

I don't visit his forum, I do not care about his forum and I care less about his forum. If the advice that is given on CAG is crap then they will find their ways to other helpful forums in the tinterweb.
let's not compare our medals with regards to time spent on CAG or war wounds for that matter cos otherwise we can waste all Sunday afternoon telling war stories of how CAG did this and how CAG did that and how much I did for them and how they treated me or you or Uncle Tom Cobbley and all.
If Marc and Alan(who are two of the Directors of the website last time I could be bothered to look that info up on companies house website--it's free to do btw) make some money, then good luck to them but let's not do this nonsense of comparing war wounds cos no one really cares on here enough to be bothered anymore(some of us were once but not not now)."Family means that no one gets forgotten or left behind"

Re: CAG
I'm sorry I do give a hoot. Honest advice given free, by honest caring people, is being lifted chapter and verse and being quoted on this other site, as if it was they who are dispensing it' then directing OP to money making sites. In the old days it was called plagiarism. Those who forget the past have no future.
