  • penalty parking ticket

Hi every one ,some help needed please for my step daughter ,she has informed today that she got a parking fine for being parked in a macdonnalds car park .

The charge notice came through the post from UKPC ,it has a photo of her car on the charge notice letter and also the time she was parked there ,and states that they have been intouch with the DVLA to get her details.

On the notice it says payment of £50 and if not payed with in 28 days penalty will go to £100 with is inclusive of a administration fee of the extra £50.

Please can some one advise what she should do i.e pay or wait it out ,we all know what these guys are like giving tickets like sweets to babies. Thanks in advance.

Thank you charitynjw ,so reading the parking charge notice law it sounds that this company are just one of the many few that slam you with charges because they are private company and think that it is ok to make money from inoccent people.

Ok now for the nitty gritty ,should my step daughter chance not paying this fine? or bite the bullet and lose £50 she can ill afford.

As I mentioned earlier on thread this company have photos of her car entering and leaving the macdonalds car park.

Thank you Clever clogs ,I totaly agree with you they are scum .I have told my step daughter to ignore the charge notice as it is not a fine just a piece of paper with their name on it.

Have explained to her that she will most prob get at least 7 reminders but if this company want to waste paper then thats up to them ,as long as she does not waste £50 for them to buy more paper for next person to be charged.

Absolutely right, 100% ignore it. As you would have read in the sticky, this is based on their being a breach of contract, but a contract is, by its very nature, a two way agreement, not something which one can inflict on someone else.

She will get loads of reminders, each slightly nastier than the preceding one, but ignore them. I'm told they make very good paper aeroplanes!

Called in at my local Tesco extra, they have a sign up in the car park; twenty minutes max wait time or £75 fine. Cameras in action.

One till opperating in store and a queue all around the shop, they will be raking it in, that is if you are daft enough to pay
