I've been made a very competitive offer for a new Nissan Qashqai through new-car-discount.com.

In their Ts and Cs they state that some cars are purchased by them as 'Fleet registered' in which case they will not supply the V5 (log book) for 2 to 6 months after delivery of the car. This sounds worryingly dodgy - does anyone have any experience with this sort of arrangement?

Does sound particularly dodgy to me.

I would say follow your instincts and go with your gut feeling. It may ba good offer but if you are questionning it then you should ask you self why!

Buying a car is a massive expense and you should always trust the dealer who you are buying it from. I bought a new Audi from Colbornes in Surrey recently and they have been fantastic. they are so friendly and organised and in no way the usual dodgy car dealer.

I would say keep looking for a car until you are happy with everything!

If the company is on the level then, it is poss it could take that long for them to track down and post out the V5 but, at worst it will probally cost you £19 (i think the fee is now) to get a V5 from DVLA if the V5 is lost or not sent to you, which really is no hardship if you are getting the car cheap,

but remember you can't tax the vehicle without either the tax reminder notice or the V5 log book as the post office needs some numbers off them

      BUT

Before you sign or agree to ANYTHING, make sure

      1. You see the car FIRST before you decide you will take it, as pics or descriptions can be altered and the vehicle could be in a worse state than you have seen on a pic or been told

      2. Do a HPI check on the vehicle to make sure it can't be taken away from you and you lose your money, as if there is HP on the vehicle the HP company CAN take the vehicle off you and you ARE the one that loses their money

      3. Also check out the company that you are buying from to make sure they are what they say they are, If the company is what they say they are then they will have no problems in you doing all of the above BEFORE you buy any vehicle from them

      Hope this helps a bit
