British Credit trust?

could you get five the money and then get the dealer to refund 2k to the finance house immediately . Cost depends on whether you have a personal loan of HP personal loans have interest calculated on an existing balance basis . HP is usuallyfront loaded.

Re: Car Finance
Ben,
I hate to be the one to say this, but do you think it's sensible to be taking on more credit when you already have a CCJ and defaults?
You can pick up a perfectly good older car for around £500-600 without too much difficulty. Not ideal perhaps, but may make more sense. I drive an ancient Audi A6 that has never let me down despite being 1996. It's a lovely drive and pretty economical. You may be better going that route?

Re: Car Finance
I hear you Caspar and I see where your coming from. CCJ (hopefully) won't be there much longer as 1, it was SB. 2, it was given by default. 3, I never knew about it until court bailiffs turned up.
Default was given by an overzealous catalogue who defaulted me evern though I explained I would be 2 weeks late paying due to company I was working for going bust so Am trying to get that removed too (is paid off now btw).
Sick of getting old cars thats just fall to bits on us. We need a decent car now

Re: Car Finance
No problem as long as you know what you're doing. So many on here (including me!) are in the **** because of taking further credit when they shouldn't.
Hope you don't mind the warning, but pleased to hear you're being sensible and hope you get a good car. Let us know what you get - I'm a real motorhead!

Diesel. I've been told to steer clear of the petrol ones bacause they cost a fortune in fuel and tax

Re: Car Finance
Nice! That Citroen / Peugeot diesel engine is a fantastic unit. I used to have a Pug 306 2.0HDi and it was awesome - a really nice car and often wish I'd kept it. Unfortunately I knackered my knee in a rock climbing accident and for a while could only drive an auto.
Never driven the 1.6HDi but the reputations of these engines is fantastic. Was in a 306 Estate yesterday (2.0 HDi) - it had done 274000 miles and drove like new. They are unbelievably strong!

Re: Car Finance
Yup 91,000 miles is nothing to worry about on a diesel indeed my brother 04 mondeo estate is on 289,000 and still going strong.
be sure to HPI the car though and thoroughly check documentation. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.
