My young daughter has a problem with her 2nd hand car she purchased last October, the fault could be related with the gearbox, she has asked main agent for advice as to what diagnoisus they could make, and to estimate for repairs? the answer:- given was pay £68 + vat for us to look at it for you, surely as they say no one knows their cars as they do, they could check out the fault and then quote a repair price, I have sent local agent an e.mail asking why as a main agent they are asking for a fee to find fault before offering cost quotation to put right, I myself years ago asked Austin Main Agent to check out problems of 2nd hand car bought from one of their agents to have a full list of faults produced for FREE. Anybody any ideas or comments?????? MIKE

Re: peaugeot gearbox trouble
Go to another garage, why use a main dealer you only pay a premium for their work.
There are lots of indepandant garages who will do the work at a fraction of their rates and still use manufacturers parts.
As for the Austin Main dealer, that must be many moons ago when companies had good customer relations, which is now sadly a thing of the past.
