  • VT Tesla Financial Services

Starting my VT experience log for on my 2022 Model Y on PCP from Tesla Financial Services.

Well this has started hilariously. I informed Tesla Financial Services on Friday the 22nd August that I wish to VT my PCP agreement with them (using the excellent Legal Beagles template which I modified).

FinanceAgreementUK@tesla.com is the new email address to use and is different to the one that was on my finance agreement, which bounced back from the original correspondence I sent them, for those considering this also.

Having spoken to them using my normal email address 2 months ago asking about my remaining balance to 50% I expected no issues. However, yesterday (Saturday 23rd) I had a response saying that they could not communicate with me about my PCP agreement as the email address that they have on file is different to the one I have contracted them from (it is not).

Extremely odd considering they had previously communicated with me on my correct, normal email address, and that all bills and confirmation of my monthly payments etc. go to that same email address that I used l...

I'm taking that initial response yesterday as their acknowledgement of my notice to terminate (cancelling direct debit etc.) Let's see how it goes...

I'll keep this thread updated. Interested if anyone else had had similar responses from TFS?

    Hi Danger Close

    Welcome to LB

If they are saying that, send them a Subject Access Request, make sure you get Proof of Postage.

    https://legalbeagles.info/library/gu...ccess-request/

If it is the same, then lodge a formal complaint, follow the complaints procedure on their website, they shouldn't 'mislead' you regarding the information they hold.

      Thanks echat11 .

If i do, I'll do that separately to my VT request. I don't want to give them an avenue to wait a month and the stress of notices of missed payment etc....

I suspect, given the response back was on Saturday off a bank holiday, that it was a finger dodge error by the work experience boy at TFS...

        Update:

Positive progress to report. All I had to do was wait until after the long weekend and I had a spontaneous report from somebody completely different within Tesla Financial Services who gave me the details. I needed to settle my remaining balance to 50% and I'm now just waiting on a call to arrange inspection and collection of my vehicle.

I'll update this thread on how that inspection goes and any challenge that I want to make to their findings and the final bill.

Tesla attempted to take payment the week after receiving my notice to VT on my PCP. Now that the car has been collected they are stating that "each monthly direct debit payment is for the usage of the car for the month before".

I've read several posts of people challenging this, and I believe that I'm in the right by not paying. Is this explicitly covered in the CCA? I couldn't find direct reference to it in the excellent VT guide?

I'm guessing my next steps are to raise a formal complaint?

Raise a Formal Complaint, ask if they can 'expedite' the matter and send you a final response 'as soon as possible' so you can lodge a complaint with the FOS.
