Hello all,
I am currently going through the process of voluntary termination with BMW finance. So far it has been excellent. No issues as I have paid over the 50% mark and as of now everything has went smoothly.
Employee of BCA auctions came to collect car yesterday and quoted £707 worth of damage to the car. He was very polite and easy to talk to and explained that even he felt that the quoted price was very steep as its a 10 year old car and in pretty good condition.
I have 3 curbed alloys and at £80 each i actually think this is a fair amount to pay as would be a lot more expensive for me to have them refurbished. That totals £240. There is also a dent in the drivers door due to someone opening their door against my car and the quote for that was £255. I think that is pretty steep but again i would be willing to pay for it as the damage is clear.
So thats around £500 that I would pay no questions asked. Its the other little chips and marks that he found that I think are ridicolously over priced and to be honest I never even noticed them until he showed me. As explained its a 10 year old car and these things are to be expected.
So my question really is where do I go from here to contest the damage? I believe there is a template letter to use but with the fact I am willing to pay for some of the damage im not quite sure how to proceed.
Only other issue I can see is I signed to say that I agreed with the damage but not the cost. In hindsight I should have just signed to say the car had been collected but unfortunately that is done now and cant go back. He advised me to sign that and actually advised that I should contest the smaller damage. There is no way to prove I caused the smaller damage but have I shot myself in the foot by signing? At the time I thought I was signing to confirm there was damage but the more I think about it I have signed to say that I was liable for the damage.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
