Hi, I bought a 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport on finance in 2022. It’s had major issues: steering rack, DPF, thermostat, and turbo failure. The car is now unroadworthy, and requires a new engine ( first start - specialist quoted me £8k but I still owe £10K. Black Horse offered just £200, saying only the steering fault is valid. They said the issues are could be expected in this age vehicle! Can I challenge this with the FOS under Section 75? Would the DPF GLO or an independent inspection help? Grateful for advice on next steps. Do I go the route of Vokuntary Termination or escalate to the FoS

Hi Topsyt100, I have read your problems with your Discovery Sport. I am in the same position with my 2016 Disco, steering rack, DPF, time chain replaced, thermostat and eventual chain that was replaced snapped and engine failure. Almost 7k still on finance and no resolution in sight. Cost almost 20k to purchase and now its worthless. Thought I was purchasing a quality vehicle that was built to last, yet it hasnt lasted the finance term agreement. How are you getting on with a resolution? I am considering independent inspection by an approved assessor but having spoken to him over the phone he thinks I have a case but the problem and difficulty is proving it. I would not want the car back to drive as they are too unreliable and actually dangerous to drive. I am hoping to return to finance as a faulty not fit for purpose vehicle. I am almost 60 years old and driving from I was 17, never have I had a vehicle give so much bother and ive never had to replace a timing chain in any vehicle so I dont get how they can say its down to my driving style. Good luck with yours and any tips in moving forward would be appreciated.
